The 2019 CoreLogic Wildfire Risk Report provides insights into single-family and multifamily residential properties at risk of damage from wildfires in the United States. The 13 western states in this report not only experience the greatest amount of acreage burned, but also the most severe and devastating wildfire events when loss of life and property damage are considered. It is essential to evaluate the wildfire risk of our communities to make progress toward the three goals of the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy; Resilient Landscapes, Fire Adapted Communities, and Safe and Effective Wildfire Response. Understanding our risk is an important step in motivating action toward prevention, preparedness, and mitigation.

According to the Corelogic report, Santa Fe ranks as number 12 in the top 15 metropolitan communities in the West at extreme risk of wildfire. Santa Fe’s risk of wildfire includes over 23,546 homes at extreme risk of wildfire damage creating a reconstruction cost value of over 7.28 billion dollars. These numbers serve as a grim reminder of the critical importance of our work towards wildfire risk reduction surrounding Santa Fe. For more information, read the full report:
